Integrated research on governance in the Asia-Pacific region through regional studies, language policy and international relations

The Afrasian Research Centre was twice selected for support by Japan's Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT)—first from April 2005 to March 2010 for promoting the improvement of academic research at a private university, and the second time from April 2011 to March 2014 for forming a foundation for strategic research at a private university. The Centre has been performing research on conflict resolution and reconciliation.
For the third term of this project, the principal focus is to bring public order to more areas through governance research based on the wisdom of non-Western countries. The aim of the research is to analyze the process of how rules and norms are formed at the micro level based on local wisdom in order to build a theory of "governance from below".
